Tooth movement in maxillary complete dentures fabricated with fluid resin polymer using different investment materials

Abstract Background: This study investigates the effect of different investments on tooth movement of new fluid resin andcompares the results with that of heat-cured resin. Besides, comparison between the right and left changes invertical distances of maxillary complete dentures that had been made.Materials and methods: A maxillary complete denture with acrylic teeth was waxed to full contour on the mastercast and replicated to make 40 wax dentures. Metallic reference points were placed for linear and verticalmeasurements. Ten dentures were allocated for each of 4 groups; group I was processed using conventional heatcuredresin (RegularTM), group II was processed with cold-cured fluid resin (CastavariaTM) in a reversible hydrocolloidmold, group III and IV processed with the same fluid resin in addition silicone duplicating mold, and in a dental stonetype III mold, respectively. Measurements had been made at the wax stage immediately before flasking, 24 hoursafter deflasking, and after decasting, finishing and storage in water at 37¢ªC for 1 week, the measurement had beenmade with a micrometer microscope accurate to 0.005 mm.Results: the results showed a significant tooth displacement in the different investments and in different types ofacrylic resin used in this study. The right and left vertical measurements did not differ significantly from each other.Conclusions: Maxillary dentures processed from fluid resin in silicone molds, produce the least linear dimensionalchanges comparable to those constructed from heat-cured resins. Management of Subluxation in the Esthetic Zone: A Case Report

Dental trauma occurs unexpectedly and without prior notice. Dental practitioners and their offices must be adequately equipped to quickly and properly treat patients who require emergency and urgent intervention to ensure the best possible outcome and, as soon as possible, with proper management protocols that will affect the future prognosis of the affected teeth. This report covers the case of a 13-year-old female patient who suffered partial subluxation of her left maxillary, central, and lateral incisors, difficulty closing her mouth, and soft tissue laceration. The case was treated immediately following the approved protocol and monitored for three years until the soft tissues were completely healed and the anterior permanent teeth were properly aligned. Prevalence of Dental Anomalies (Mesiodens and Enamel Hypoplasia) Among Primary School Children in Badra/Iraq

Abstract Background: Dental anomalies considered as one of the developmental defects during teeth formation caused by both genetic and environmental factors which responsible for notable deviation from normal size, color, number, contour and developmental degree. The aim of this study was to determine prevalence of defect in number (hyperdontia or mesiodens teeth) and structural defect (enamel hypoplasia, localized and generalized,) among primary school children. Material and methods: A cross sectional study that comprises data from 403 boys and 411 girls; a primary school students aged from 5-12 years with a total of 814 student; was conducted in Badra/ Iraq. Results: The study shows a prevalence rate of a mesiodens from 814 students was 0.49% and it represented more frequently in males more than females with a ratio of 3:1. While, the prevalence of enamel hypoplasia was estimated to be 0.86 % among the observed population, it observed more in girls than in boys, with the proportion being around 1: 1.333 male: female ratio. Conclusion: the prevalence of dental anomalies was found to be more in males than in females and most of the cases found in age group between 8-10 years old. Routine checkup for these anomalies during primary and mixed dentation which can help for early diagnosis and detection of these disorders that will help minimizing future complications and give well prognosis.
